God has blessed us with this beautiful building, in the year 1934 a band of christians, organized the Second Baptist Church, which was the church's original name.  In 1934 this band of baptist pioneers asked a Baptist preacher Brother O.P. Bishop to come and preach.   On October 7, 1934 a motion at a special meeting was made to organize a Baptist church. There were 27 people who made up the original charter.  During this time the church was meeting on Sundays at the Legion Hall and in homes of members for prayer meetings.  In December 1936 the church sent its first missionary to China.  On February 2, 1938 the church bought a building and lot at 7th and Pitkin Avenue.  On September 5, 1945 the name was changed to Pitkin Avenue Baptist Church. In August of 1965 the builders began the new church building.  October 24, 1965 the church held the first service in the new building.
